On September 23, 2 representatives of the Armenian team competed at the World Weightlifting Championships in Thailand.
In the weight category up to 89 kg Hakob Mkrtchyan won the world championship with a total weight of 375 kg.
In the snatch, this year’s European champion Hakob Mkrtchyan became fourth with 167 kg. In general, the Armenian weightlifter lifted 208 kg and overtook Iranian Ali Miri in second place by 1 kg.
Another Armenian weightlifter David Hovhannisyan from the same weight category registered a result of 355 kg, taking 12th place.
